Rev. Dr. Bill Crawford
Brief info
Born and raised in Philadelphia, a review of my resume would suggest I'm a "city" guy but I've always had an appreciation for open spaces and most especially communities of people in every locale, and for congregations of all ages. I have been in ministry for 40 years – mostly as a church pastor, but also as a university chaplain and seminary dean of students. The last church I served for 17 years was Larchmont Presbyterian Church and it is there where I believed I might retire. I shared with the HUPC Pastoral Nominating Committee in one of our first conversations “I failed at retirement” and that’s been my way of saying that beyond my last position as pastor, I have continued to eagerly serve with churches and colleagues in ministry. I believe the Holy Spirit was at work in our meetings and those discussions, bringing us together. It is with a passion for ministry, and for the life of the Church and people… and eagerness to serve, that I come to you here in Hebron.
My wife Julie is a professor of biblical studies and author; she is also an ordained minister (Methodist). We are the proud parents of two adult children, Graham, who works at JPMorganChase, and Mari, who is an actress and playwright; both live in NYC.
Ministry to me is about experiencing, reflecting, sharing God’s love; building Christian community; and offering the witness of Christ’s love to the broader community and the world about us. I can't wait to meet you all and become a part of the Hebron community.
